CIF Sportsmanship Statement
Chaffey High School, as part of the CIF Southern Section and CIF State Area, adheres to the philosophy of "Pursuing Victory with Honor" in support of the Operating Beliefs and Principles of the California Interscholastic Federation. All Chaffey athletic contests will be conducted under the strictest code of good sportsmanship. We believe that good sportsmanship and ethics are exhibited in these six pillars of character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. The officials/umpires are neutral persons who represent the CIF and are assigned to administer the rules of the game. They are certified by their specific sport association. Their experience and their integrity qualify them for their part in this interscholastic contest. In hosting this contest, we expect all participants: players, coaches, officials and spectators, to abide by the six pillars of character and display good sportsmanship at all times. Rooters are encouraged to support their own team but are requested to refrain from booing the opponents or the officials' decisions. Good sportsmanship applauds good plays, but does not applaud errors or mistakes. The high school athletes who are performing here today/tonight are friendly rivals, not enemies. This is the basic theme of interscholastic athletics - the idea of friendly competition. Remember, there is no victory without honor and winning at all costs is not winning at all! Spectators unwilling to follow the rules may be removed from the facility. Thank you for your cooperation! Chaffey High School
